This happy, uplifting musical takes place in Hollywood circa 1927. Monumental Pictures’ biggest stars, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, are a glamorous on-screen couple during the silent film era. They are also touted to be an off-screen couple by the gossip columns. The two perpetuate the rumor to please their fans and drive people to the theaters but in reality, Don barely tolerates the insufferable Lina. Meanwhile, Don makes the acquaintance of chorus girl Kathy Seldon, who is also trying to make it big in Hollywood. Despite a shaky start, Don falls in love with Kathy, but the two must keep their relationship under wraps.

When a competing production company launches into the talking film world, Monumental Pictures recognizes the need to compete but they face a big problem. Superstar Lina has an obnoxiously shrill voice that no amount of coaching can help. The studio decides to use Kathy to dub Lina’s voice, but the plan goes drastically awry.

Admission is free for all audiences members and donations are appreciated. Parking is also free! Please attend and support the theater students at AIC!

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-6
