The Journey: From the Blues to Advent to Christmas
On December 9th, 2022 Southwick Community Episcopal Church will host a special concert featuring Michal Hakanson-Stacy and friends. The concert will be divided into two parts. The first section will feature blues music from his two latest releases which center around contemporary issues. After an intermission, his band will be joined by members of his previous band Lyres to Sidon to share a set of Advent and Christmas music. Having released three CDs of Christmas music, Michael has picked out some of his favourites. “These are not the typical holiday fare. No Silent Night here .” Hakanson-Stacy is always on the lookout for interesting meaningful tunes. They range from the Scottish Hebrides to Ireland to Upstate Maine to Louisiana. Audience members will have the chance to sing along on most numbers.
A can good or two or a case will get you admission. Those collected will benefit a local food bank. Music will be available for sale. Refreshments will be provided and free door prizes.
The music starts at 7 p.m.
