More than 150 Springfield area students will perform alongside professional dancers from around the country in Albany Berkshire Ballet’s 45th annual production of The Nutcracker at Symphony Hall on Dec. 21.
Two local students will perform in the coveted role of “Clara.” Hannah Markel of Southwick, MA, and Emalie Mendes of Chicopee, MA will each appear in one performance of ABB’s celebrated Nutcracker ballet. The part of Clara is one of the most significant roles attainable by a student level dancer in a professional production, and one of the most recognizable characters in ballet.
A holiday favorite, The Nutcracker tells the story of a young girl, Clara, and the magical dream she has one Christmas Eve. Set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music, the story of The Nutcracker follows the adventures of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they conquer the Mouse King and embark on a magical journey to The Land of Sweets.
Two performances will be held at Symphony Hall on December 21 at 1:00PM & 3:00PM
