The 10th annual Pumpkins & Pets on the Hill Festival will take place at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Feast of St. Francis of Assisi will be celebrated during the morning, commemorating the 12th- century patron saint of animals and the environment.
Forest Park Zoo on the Go will be at the festival from 11 to 11:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. there will be a 15-minute Blessing of the Pets service. Clergy will be available until 1 p.m. to offer “drop-by” blessings. Pets must either be on a leash or in a carrier.
The festivities conclude at 5 p.m. with “For the Fruit of All Creation,” an hour-long Celtic worship experience featuring Susan Howland on the Celtic harp, songs and prayers from the British Isles and a peaceful atmosphere with serene candlelight. Participants will give God thanks for the beauty and abundance of creation as they celebrate the fall harvest.
The day’s events are free and open to the public, rain or shine.
