Celebrate sugaring season with Storrowton Village Museum on Saturday, March 14! The annual Maple Harvest Day & Pancake Breakfast highlights the history and tradition of maple sugaring in New England.
In the Village's red Greenwich Barn, delight in fresh-flipped pancakes by the West Springfield Lions Club, served with pure Ferrindino Maple syrup. Proceeds from the pancake breakfast will be donated to Storrowton’s educational programs.
Visitors will watch as the historic Gilbert Farmhouse turns into a sugarhouse for the day. Learn how the “liquid gold” is made, from tree tapping to sap boiling, and watch 19th century open hearth cooking demonstrations of maple recipes. Open only once a year to visitors, you'll get the unique opportunity to tour the second floor of the farmhouse, featuring three bedrooms and a workroom.
Free Docent-led tours and 19th century craft demos will be available in the Gilbert Farmhouse, and Ferrindino Maple will be offering educational tastings of maple syrup and several of their products for sale.
