Why Christmas Music?

Why all-Christmas music and why so early?

We believe Christmas is the most joyful time of the year! It’s all about celebrating the birth of Jesus…the biggest event in human history…and the one that our entire faith is built upon! We don’t think it’s ever too early to celebrate that! Even though the music is different from what we normally play, the message is still the same. God loves you and has a plan for your life and He desires a relationship with you! He loves you so much, that he sent his Son, Jesus, to die for you. We want EVERYONE in the Greater Springfield, MA area to hear that good news! We believe it’s a celebration! Why would we limit a celebration THIS big to just a few weeks? Besides, I’m not sure it’s written anywhere that Christmas music can only start after Thanksgiving?

Are you just skipping right over Thanksgiving?

We believe it’s just the opposite. We’re never more thankful than we are during this time of year. After all, the holiday season includes Thanksgiving. You will hear many stories of thanksgiving during this time as we reflect on the blessings of the past year.  By starting your Christmas programming before Thanksgiving it actually gives you time to enjoy the season and reflect on the real meaning of the season before the craziness hits!

Christmas Music is Unique

Christmas music is one of the few types of music that is almost universal. Not everyone listens to Christian music. Nor does everyone listen to country, rock, or pop music.  However, Christmas music is different in the fact that almost everyone grew up at one time or another listening to Christmas music. It’s familiar to almost everyone!

Because of that fact, when we play Christmas music on The Q 99.7, we have many new people tuning in.  Some for the very first time! If you are a first-time listener, WELCOME!

How The Q 99.7’s Christmas Programming is Different

It’s true that other radio stations play Christmas music. What’s different about the Christmas programming on The Q 99.7 is what is in between the songs. A message about the true meaning of the season… a message of God’s Hope and Love!

We hope you enjoy the message on The Q 99.7 so much that you’ll decide to listen after the Christmas season. All year long, we play songs and share stories that are uplifting and positive, and we have lot of fun, too - We hope you'll join us!
