Join the National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) at the Consultation and Wellness Center, WNEU College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences & Big Y Foods Inc.
The evidence-based CDC National DPP lifestyle change program is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Primary features of the program include:
Who can join the program?

► The program is intended for adults at risk of developing type 2 diabetes (age ≥ 18 years old).
► If a participant’s Body Mass Index (BMI) is ≥ 25 or ≥ 23, if Asian American.
► Participants cannot have a previous diagnosis of type 1 or type 2 diabetes prior to enrollment.
► Participants cannot be pregnant at the time of enrollment.

Primary features of the program include:
► Coaching sessions across a year-long lifestyle change program.
► Is a 1-year group program. Each module/meeting lasts for one hour (this will be a group meeting and very interactive). Meetings will be mostly held via Zoom. We will meet:
 Once a week for four months (sessions 1 to 16)
 Every other week for two months (sessions 17 to 20)
 Once a month for six months (sessions 21 to 26)
 We will have one make-up session for each meeting to accommodate any missed session.

► A CDC-approved curriculum.
► Maximum convenience using a virtual or in-person session.
► Peer support and long-lasting results.
► Focuses on behavior change to improve healthy eating, increase physical activity, and stress management.
► A free program supported by the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Western New England University, Springfield, MA.

The program will start on Thursday, January 18, 6- 7 pm.

After you sign up, you will be scheduled for your one-time health check at the Wellness Center at Big Y (300 Cooley Street, Springfield, MA 01128). This visit is free and should take no more than 30 minutes. You will receive your program materials during the health visit.
