Tales of Dave: A Celebration of Life and Community
Join with family and friends to tell and hear tales of the remarkable life of Dave Rothstein, who passed away unexpectedly in 2025 at age 57.
Dave did not live long enough, but he lived his life to the fullest, pursued dreams and touched so many people, animals, and places that bear his mark. In his own words, Dave was a sculptor, photographer, printmaker, and illustrator. But he was much more. As an environmental and conservation attorney, he helped to save thousands of acres for future generations. He was an internationally acclaimed sculptor of snow, ice and even hay when there was no snow. Honoring the horticultural history of this area in early American times, Dave studied and learned to farm in order to grow and market different kinds of mint. Known to many as the man who set a world record for paddling a giant pumpkin down the Deerfield and Connecticut rivers. He was a cat lover and, indeed, a food sensory analyst specializing in donuts. But most of all, Dave Rothstein was an exemplar of living and a role model of a man living in his community. It is an honor to acknowledge our loss, to tell the stories, and to cherish the time we had with Dave.
