The Monson Summerfest Parade is July 4th at 10:00 A.M. (Main St. Closes at 9:00)
The parade route begins at Hillside Cemetery and ends near Cushman St.
The day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the 13 former British colonies on July 4, 1776.
Massachusetts became the first state to recognize the Fourth of July as a statewide holiday in 1781.
